Vanishing Point is an Australian progressive metal band who recently supported Iron Maiden on a few Australian dates. Their latest album is The Fourth Season, which was released in 2007. With Vanishing Point, you get a thick symphonic metal sound that isn't particularly complex but is always interesting. But the main draw of the band is its ability to craft incredible vocal melodies. Each song on the band's last two albums is absolutely infectious, and despite the relative simplicity of the songwriting, you'll want to listen to these songs over and over again. Now, all of the musicians are quite good at what they do, and vocalist Silvio Massaro is quite good at what he does despite having some strange vocal harmonies here and there. If we're lucky, we'll be hearing some news from this band before too long. Until then, check out samples of The Fourth Season on the right. Embrace the Silence is also a great listen if you can track that one down.

For me The Fourth Season sounded pretty much mediocre, but I take more pleasure from interesting instrumentalisations rather than vocal lines, so maybe that's it.
